The first Presidential Debate happen tonight at 8:00 CST on Fox News. Chris Wallace will moderate the 90 minute, commercial-free telecast. Wallace also chose the debate topics:
Political records of each candidate
Race & Violence of Cities
If you watch the debate, please understand that such political events differ from academic debates including determine who “winds” the evening. We will discuss this more as the week progresses but sometimes the person making the most salient points can still lose ground based on demeanor. Vice President Biden is in better shape for victor status simply due to his lead in the polls. His goal is one of preservation. However, the President enjoys a great opportunity to highlight Biden’s lack of public activity since the COVID shutdown. Voters have seen little of the Democratic nominee so major slip-ups similar to his primary performance could spell trouble.
This blog posts talks about the first debate of the past presidential election. They discussed topics including political records for each candidate, supreme court, pandemic, race and violence of cities, the economy, and election integrity. This post said that President Biden was in better shape for a victory due to his lead in the polls, although we know now that he is the elected President. I did not watch this debate so I wasn’t able to see how it went when it happened.

I believe I watched this debate last semester with my family. I have always liked debates and this one didn’t let me down.
As someone who does not pay much attention to politics, this political event of debate jarred me. It is as though the earthquake of political tension was so great, that it affected the distant land of political ignorance. I along with others that are tapped out of the political world were biting our nails at the thought of these two individuals arguing, and were jarred at the uniquely troublesome election debates and processes. It is interesting to read a blog post from the perspective of pre-debate/election, and see how not only was the guess above accurate, but also majorly demonstrated in the debates. Our former president definitely had good points and plans, but could not convey them in a very mature and professional way. The opponent did not convey in a much better fashion, but was outdone by the former president. This debate goes to show that a valuable argument will mean nothing when conveyed or argued in a bad way. The debate process seems to be north of 50% of a president’s reputation.
Your comment regarding this post very intriguing to read. I not only liked the analogies you used but I couldn’t of agreed more with you in thought. Such as, the demeanor of our former president in the delivery of his plans was his biggest downfall. It was interesting to note your excellent point regarding how a “valuable argument will mean nothing when conveyed or argued in a bad way.” I think this can be applied in every aspect of our lives, esp. as Christ followers.
I did not watch the first debate, but I found that this was a great resource to sum up what the debate might have been like. This gave great insight on the background of the candidates. This article illustrated where the candidates are either strongest or lacking in aspects of the election. I found this was good content and helpful to understand aspects of the election that I missed.
the debates of last year were very crazy to watch. I remember dropping my jaw so many times. It was a very volatile process but we made it through. As the process went on, they figured out how to keep both candidates a little more civil but this election was unlike any other. It will be something to look back on and tell future generations about.
This post was very relevant because this last year was a whirlwind! the election process and debates played a big part of life in this past year and will play a part in history as those debates effected our country.
As someone reading a year after these events its very interesting seeing what ideas/events were chosen as topics as well as seeing how these have changed and affected us a year later.
I haven’t seen a full debate before, will similar topics be in future debates?
